A public artwork commissioned by the Berea Public library in Berea, OH. It is a kinetic sculpture. The resin wheels turn in different directions slowly by means of a pulley and belt system, which is driven by two motors. In creating this piece, I wanted to tap into Bereas history and the function of the library as a place to acquire knowledge. (Berea produced grindstones) What resulted was a metaphoric piece that brings together the symbol of the grindstone and patterned images that relate to various branches of knowledge: music, science, history, philosophy, art, literature, and religion.
